On December 4, the “Surge Cup” 2020 National Skateboard Championships—the first state-level skateboarding event this year—kicked off in the national extreme sports training base in Lishui, the only one-stop extreme sports complex in China. This event has attracted hundreds of athletes from 17 teams from across the country.
The National Championships is also a qualification point race for the Skateboarding competition of Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Some 42 highest-placed skateboarders of each event will obtain corresponding Olympic points. The national extreme sports training base in Lishui is China’s largest extreme sports venue with a total building area of over 40,000m2. It houses facilities for various extreme sports such as the world's largest indoor wave pool for surfing, popular entertainment wind tunnels, rock climbing wall, skating bowl, street skateboarding courses, and venues for Bicycle Moto Cross (BMX) and trampoline. They all meet the technical requirements for Olympic competitions.
